We reached our destination today and I was so excited to see my grandchildren that I forgot to take pictures of them! Well, as Vernon said - 'we have 11 days here'. Vernon is helping Jake with some home projects and Emerson and I will be occupying the children.
I did take some pictures along the way through the beautiful UP of Michigan today:
All told - seeing Lake Superior from this vantage point took us 70 miles out of the way! Due to a spur of the moment decision to see Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore, we essentially backtracked on a curvy road (pulling the trailer) about 30 miles. Vernon said that this better be worth it. Oops - when we got there we realized that the only way to see the Pictured Rocks is by BOAT! (I usually research our destinations online but in this remote area there was no signal for internet!)
I zoomed in on some people down on the beach and a couple of guys looking for stones? in the clear water.
Beautiful tree lined roads. Lots of pretty white Queen Anne's Lace and Golden Rod along both sides of the road in many places. One sign said "Road not plowed in winter" - imagine that with an average of 200 inches of snow. Lots of lovely undeveloped, and unspoiled land!
A mom and pop gas station and store. They really made an effort to make the front of the store welcoming. See the water bowl with the hose for the dogs next to the nice couch to sit on while your husband pumps the gas!
Tomorrow I'll be in full grandchild photographing mode! Lovely Samantha (11) and the 3 boys: Joshua (5), Matthan (4) and River (2)
