Day 3 The Jenney Museum, and Plymouth, Massachusetts

Today was a good day to go to a museum.  It drizzled on and off all day, but the drab weather was in sharp contrast to my high spirits being able to experience The Jenney in the center of Plymouth.

We met the man Leo Martin who (with his wife, Nancy) runs the museum and gives the tours.  He and Vernon talked carpentry issues on historic homes.

We saw an excellent video about the Pilgrims narrated by Leo.  Then we walked around the very well done displays of pictures and information on the history of these people who were so instrumental in the development of the principles and foundations of our nation.  Are you ready?  Hopefully you can enlarge these pictures of the fascinating snippets of information that make pilgrim and our country's history come alive.

The Mayflower:  101 people sailed from England and after arriving in the winter of 1620, the next year half died.  Only 51 were left.  (Today those 51 have an estimated 30 million descendants.)

Spiritual Liberty:  the pilgrims were 'separatists'.  They wanted to separate themselves from the Church of England in which King James 1 set himself up as the head.  (The Puritans on the other hand wanted to work to change the church from within -- 30 years later they realized this wouldn't work - e.g. Miles Standish)

I will post more from the Jenney Museum exhibits tomorrow morning.  It has gotten pretty late:)  Good night.

Thanks Lois! The trailer wiring still works, the signal on the dashboard just beeps on and off regularly! (Annoying) Vernon tried to fix the ground wire today so we'll see when we pull the camper to Maine tomorrow.
