Another pristine day -- blue skies and chilly to start out (41 degrees) in Yuma, Arizona to the upper 70's in San Diego. A lady in the pool (she and her husband are snowbirds from Washington state) at the Yuma campground told us we'd pass some big dunes when we crossed over into California. They are called Imperial Sand Dunes. And from the tracks, lots of people enjoy riding their atv's on them.
We got to see part of the Colorado River aqueduct a little way further which is a primary source of drinking water for southern California. It is 287 miles of aqueducts, underground tunnels and buried conduit and siphons(?). It's called one the 7 wonders of American engineering.
We passed one area of acres and acres of continuous black solar panels that continued for probably over a mile! And lots of huge, imposing looking wind turbines along a few stretches of road.
After setting up camp east of San Diego, in El Cajon, we visited the Life Force International headquarters and had a tour of the facility where they process Body Balance and all the other nutritional products (that I recommend at my office). It was great to see Gerry Hillman again whose health issues as a young wife and mother prompted her husband, Wayne (who passed away 2 1/2 years ago) to research and formulate Body Balance 30 years ago. Her son, Ron Hillman is now the head of the company.
Thankfully, southern California has gotten weeks of rain after a severe drought. Thankfully for us the weeks of rain are over as of just a couple of days ago! and everything is green and sunny!
