Day 18: Another long driving day featuring a 45 min. traffic jam in Tulsa

Our goal after leaving the Grand Canyon area yesterday was to visit Vernon's granddaughter in Bolivar, Missouri. All of Vernon's children and grandchildren and great grandchildren are in the New Holland area except Kate!  We look forward to seeing Kate and her husband Landon.

So that meant 2 long driving days:  yesterday through Arizona, New Mexico and the Texas panhandle. Then today we drove through Oklahoma and into Missouri.

We left Rt. 40 at Oklahoma City and headed northeast on Rt 44.

Today I took one picture: steers in a pasture along Rt. 44 north of Tulsa.  Make that 2: I forgot I took this picture of the sun rising this morning.

We will camp in Bolivar for 2 nights.

The sunrise just east of Amarillo, Texas

Steers in a pasture in Oklahoma.  We saw a lot of black angus steers grazing.  It was nice to see the red bud trees starting to bloom on the sides of the road.  I guess spring in Oklahoma is about 2 weeks earlier than ours in PA.

Day 18:  Amarillo, Texas to Bolivar, MO -- 552 miles
Tomorrow:  visiting with Kate and Landon in Bolivar

I never thought about the fact that Kate is the only one who left town! We sure do appreciate you driving out of the way to say hello, continued safe travels!
