So tomorrow we'll head up there and take the dam tour. :) We'll be sure to hold on to the dam handrail so we don't fall down the dam steps! (Thank you Jeff Z. for the dam advice that you texted to us today.)
Here are a few pictures of the (long) day of traveling.
A pretty lake as the sun is rising in the Diablo Mtns going back on the same road in the opposite direction as the trip up last week |
An interesting mtn landscape and a silhouette of Vernon's nice face. Please disregard the reflection of McDonald's drink cups. (First fast food of the trip -- really!) |
We think that's snow on the top of those mountains! Something our friends and family in PA are seeing a lot of today I hear. |
We crossed over the Colorado River into Arizona and still more mountains. |
Our campground is near the old Rt 66. Not sure what Supai is. (3/16: I found out that Supai is a layer of sandstone that you see in the walls of the Grand Canyon) |
Day 14: 592 miles from San Jose,California to Kingman, Arizona |

Whoa! Another high mileage day! Lots of snow here, as well as about 2 hours of sleet Tues morning.
I hope it's warming up and melting!
