Falls Park   (Sioux Falls, South Dakota)
It stopped raining long enough for us to stop and enjoy Falls Park in Sioux Falls, SD. this morning.  We walked out of the parking lot and saw this waterfall:

We weren't sure at this point that Falls Park was worth a stop looking at this little waterfall!

Then the path led us to this!!  It was actually pretty scary - so loud and it created quite a lot of mist -- the path lead us very close to it.  (very impressive)

View from the bridge we crossed.  The power of this water was                                                                                               awesome!

View of the falls from the lookout tower

This scupture called "Monarch of the Plains" was made of South Dakota mahogany granite.
Herds of buffalo roamed the Falls area in the 1800's.

                                               South Dakota flatlands

We passed at least a dozen fields of HUNDREDS of acres of sunflowers.  At this point the pedals had fallen off and the seeds looked ready to harvest.  I won't wonder where sunflower oil comes from!

We drove nearly 500 miles today from Welcome, Minnesota to near Rapid City, South Dakota.  Tomorrow:  Mt. Rushmore, Custer State Park and a tour through the Badlands!
