Day 4 Indiana Dunes National Park en route to Chicago

On the way to Chicago we stopped off at our nation's newest national park:  Indiana Dunes National Park. Part of the mile long hike we took there was on the beach of Lake Michigan.  The dunes were very pretty and very different from White Sand National Park which we visited in 2017 (day 6 if you want to check out the pictures below)

part of the dune area was like a forest!

Chicago skyline -- Does anyone know which is the Sears Building?

We reached the Paul Wolff Campground (about an hour west of Chicago) in Elgin, IL.  We drove through the middle of the city of Chicago and around 1:00 p.m  the traffic wasn't too bad .  We passed signs on the Chicago highways "Put down your phone and nobody'll get hurt"  -- a little Chicago humor.

Visiting with Julia

Tomorrow, our dear friend, Julia Radke who lives in West Dundee (near our campground in Elgin) is going to drive us into Chicago to go on an architecture boat tour on the Chicago River!!!  We'll learn some of Chicago's colorful history including the Great Chicago Fire of 1871.  We'll get great views of some of the beautiful buildings in Chicago and learn about their architecture -- Vernon will enjoy this.
Tonight we went out to eat brick oven pizza with Julia and her friend, Thomas:

What a lovely walk along the Fox River into the town of West Dundee for yummy brick oven pizza!
It's so great to spend some time with Julia where she lives!

Until tomorrow, God bless and keep you and make His face to shine upon you and give you peace.
