Day 5 A beautiful, sunny day on the Chicago River

Our friend Jul drove us into Chicago to the Navy Pier and where we boarded a tour boat that took us on a tour of center city Chicago via the Chicago River!!  The tour guide was very knowledgeable and entertaining.

Waiting for people to board the boat for the tour

Vista Tower is the 3rd tallest building in Chicago
The Trump Tower is the 2nd tallest building in Chicago

I love the way you can see the reflection of other buildings in this glass building.
Does anyone know about this beautiful building with the domes?
Merchandise Mart takes up 2.2 acres!

This is the curved office building that follows the bend in the river where the main river and
the south fork meet

This is REAL gold foil on top of this building!

The Sears Tower (now The Willis Tower) -- tallest building in Chicago -- will always be The Sears Tower to Chicago natives.

Building on the river by Bertram Goldberg who designed buildings that average people could afford to live in.  Many of the skyscrapers in 'Streeterville' - the residential skyscrapers along our tour charge $35,000/month rent!

This 'modest' building -- the middle of these 3 -- has a penthouse on the top that would cost you $14 million!

Lunch at "Bubba Gump's" on the Navy Pier

Lovely stroll down the Navy Pier:  lots of people and activity on this beautiful, sunny day!!

Tomorrow heading out toward Rapid City, South Dakota.  We'll see what we see along the way!
